Pomorie will present the draft of Arkhangelsk support zone at the forum «The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue»

The project to create Arkhangelsk support zone in the region is planned to be presented at the International Arctic Forum «The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue», which will be held on March 29-30, told Arkhangelsk Region Governor Igor Orlov to RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

It is about creating a serious logistics structure that will work in Arkhangelsk to ensure the coordination of all participants in the Arctic. In total in the Russian Federation it is planned to create eight such support zones.

— They will form the areas of activity in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, which will give an impetus to the development of this region as a whole. This is the development of sea routes, ports, railways and highways. We will talk about this, and I think we will be able to reach decisions that will advance us in the way of realizing these tasks, – the head of the Arkhangelsk Region said.

Moreover, the region will present other regional initiatives at the forum. In particular, the possibilities of the only federal university in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation – the Northern Arctic Federal University and the deepwater port project, construction of which is planned to be carried out within the framework of a concession agreement with attraction of foreign investments.

Igor Orlov emphasized:

«Today the Arctic is of interest to many, therefore we are negotiating with investors from the countries-observers of the Arctic region. I think we will be able to find a solution, because we have already done the part of the way, which is called the declaration of intention to invest, we conduct geodesic research to estimate the possible costs in the place that we choose».
