Delegation of the Arkhangelsk region headed by the Acting Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov participates in the II Forum of Russian Belorussian Regions. The Forum started its work on September 17th.
Today, on September 18th, the plenary session and the opening ceremony were held. This year’s topic is the Union State’s Industrial Policy.
Valentina Matvienko, the Head of the Russian Federation Council, delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the task of the Union State is to strengthen industrial cooperation and to make competitive products in import substitution, which will reverse negative trends in economy.
Arkhangelsk region and Belarus have close business contacts. In March this year a big delegation from the Arkhangelsk region visited Minsk where the Governor of Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the Prime Minister of Belarus Andrey Kobyakov.
In April the Arkhangelsk region and Belarus signed an agreement on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation.
On September 15th the Action plan on cooperation development between the Arkhangelsk region and Belarus for 2015-2017 was endorsed. It targets increase of goods turnover volume by 15-25%.
In industry and trade the possibilities to import harvesting, agriculture, cargo, road building, communal service equipment are examined.
It is also suggested to hold business seminars on joint manufactures, increase of industrial cooperation, and development of mutually beneficial trade.
Moreover, it’s proposed to develop cooperation in construction and communal services, dairy farming, agricultural and food supplies, health care, culture, tourism, and sports.
