Igor Orlov and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko discussed cooperation plans.

Meeting in the Palace of Independence in Minsk became a central event in the visit of the delegation of the Arkhangelsk region.

In his welcome speech Igor Orlov said that interregional cooperation with countries that have strategic partnership relations with Russia is particularly important.

— This is the first visit of the delegation of the Arkhangelsk region to Belarus, – Alexander Lukashenko said. – We regard it as a very important step, and we are interested in intensifying the relationship. We count on reaching agreements that will help to increase effectiveness of our relationship.

— Interregional cooperation is fundamental for trade-economic, scientific-technical, and humanitarian relations between Russia and the Republic of Belarus, – Igor Orlov said in his welcome speech. – We are interested in developing mutually beneficial relations with the Republic of Belarus on the administrative and business levels.

Main courses of cooperation

The President of Belarus named perspective courses of cooperation – deliveries of Belorussian machinery, participation of Belorussian experts in buildings and constructions projects preparation.

— We are ready to strengthen your agriculture as well. This is a field we are good at, – the President said.

Igor Orlov mentioned in his dialogue with Alexander Lukashenko that in 2014 the turnover between the Arkhangelsk region and the Republic of Belarus has increased by 15.6% compared with 2013, and was $203 mln.

Currently interregional cooperation between the Arkhangelsk region and the Republic of Belarus is performed within an agreement signed in December 2009.

The main purpose of this visit is to attract Belorussian partners to invest in the projects in the Arkhangelsk region.
