March 23 2015 19:10

Arkhangelsk Region Minister on Youth Affairs and Sport Elena Dotsenko took part in the meeting of the BEAC Joint Working Group on Youth (JWGY).

Members of the JWGY are national representatives from Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia as well as indigenous peoples that live in the Barents region, and members of Barents Region Youth Council (BRYC). Arkhangelsk region is currently co-chairing the working group.

At the meeting on March 18 in Helsinki the participants discussed the “Barents Youth” programme for the following years. A suggestion from the Arkhangelsk region is to support youth initiatives in physical culture and sports development as one of priorities to be supported by the programme. The adopted draft of the programme also includes intentions to introduce a visa-free regime for the Barents youth who work on joint projects and initiatives.

— We discussed with colleagues that it’s important to support international youth projects which develop good neighbourly relations between our countries, direct contacts and initiatives based on respect for cultures and interests of each other, – Elena Dotsenko summarized the meeting.
