Arkhangelsk will discuss environmental safety in the Barents region

The regional Government discussed organizational issues of the upcoming international conference “Ecological-economic cooperation in the Barents region – from problems towards search of joint solutions”.

The conference will be attended by the Arkhangelsk Region Governor Igor Orlov, the Chairperson of the Finnmark county council (Norway) Runar Sjåstad, the President of the Nordland County Government (Norway) Tomas Norvoll, Region Mayor of the Council of Oulu Region (Finland) Pauli Harju, and the Director of the “Environmental Investment Center” (Moscow) Mikhail Yulkin.

The conference includes a plenary session discussing environmentally friendly economic development in the Barents region, and roundtable discussions on modernization of public utility complex, preservation of biological and landscape diversity, measures to prevent emissions of greenhouse gases, environmental education and other topics.

The conference starts on March 12, 2015 at 10:00 in the Pur Navolok business-center.
