Export Activities: New Business Opportunities for the Arkhangelsk Region

October 7 2015 13:50

The Arkhangelsk Chamber of Commerce held a video-conference with the Russian trade representative in Denmark, Tatiana Volozhinskaya.

The subject appears to be relevant due to the need for further development of trade and economic relations between Denmark and the Arkhangelsk region. Arkhangelsk region is a promising investment region for Scandinavian countries, and Arkhangelsk entrepreneurs get the opportunity to expand their foreign sales markets.

Timber and timber products, as well as oil products in small volumes, were major goods exported to Denmark in 2014. Import consisted solely of engineering products. Besides, the Danish business community is interested in implementation of joint projects aimed at the biofuel production, factory farms construction, and valuable fish species breeding.

— We are planning to integrate the production of small enterprises in order to create large consignments of goods to be sent abroad. For example, to make shipping services cost-effective, a vessel should be loaded with minimum ten thousand tons of goods. The Regional Chamber of Commerce is ready to undertake such functions as search for business partners and assistance in products certification, – the president of the Arkhangelsk Chamber of Commerce, Vasiliy Sidorovsky, said.

Currently the regional Chamber of Commerce and the Arkhangelsk Region Ministry on Economic Development and Competition Policy are developing a joint project aimed at establishing a coordination center to support export-oriented small and medium-sized businesses in the Arkhangelsk region.

Export Support Center will take part in the organization of business missions, conduct market research, consulting and training of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as organize meetings and negotiations with foreign partners.
