The pig stock is to increase up to 2.5 thousand of animal units by the end of the year

Arkhangelsk region Minister of Agriculture and Trade Akexey Korotenkov visited Vladimir Viktorov’s farm.

The region’s largest pig-breeding farm is located in a village named Levkovka, Primorsky district. It was founded in 2013 on the basis of “Severny Bacon” bankrupt enterprise.

The farmer described pig production as complicated and expensive. For example, during the first month he used to buy complete feed, but soon it became clear that in this case the expenditures are too high. For that purposes a mini-plant for grain-processing was acquired.

Today there are approximately one thousand pigs on the farm. The pig stock is to increase up to 2.5 thousand of animal units by the end of the year. A slaughter unit meeting all the requirements of technical regulations of the Customs Union is soon going to start.

State support is important to each farmer

Alexey Korotenkov and the farmer discussed urgent farming issues, namely: acreage allocation for feeding grain, participation of farm enterprise in regional tenders for subsidies, further modernization of farming industry and acquisition of modern equipment.

It should be noted that in the framework of national program of agricultural development for 2013-2020 the Ministry convenes granting tenders for  start-up farmers and family livestock enterprises.

In 2015 25 regional start-up farmers got more than 30 mln RUR as a financial support, 37 mln RUR were allocated 5 for the development of family livestock enterprises.

—In general Pomor agricultural producers got approximately 280 mln RUR of federal financing and about  640 mln RUR from regional budget last year, – stressed the Minister. – In 2016 the amount of state support will remain the same.
