“The Half of an Orchestra” performance finalized the largest music-and-theatre event of the spring in Arkhangelsk named “European Spring”.
This year festival presented a varied program: the Arkhangelsk audience could see theatrical performances, performances of musical bands and even avant-garde ballet.
On March 25th Peter Mamonov known as a genius of one-man show gave a start to the festival. Recently he has gathered a band of young musicians named “Absolutely New Zvuki Mu” and together they prepared a performance called “Adventures of Neznayka” which was presented at the stage of Arkhangelsk Officer’s Club.
The book wrote by Nikolay Nosov is in the basis of the show, but it is not just a retelling of mites’ adventures, it is a story full of philosophical worldview.
In the second festival day (March 31th) there was presented an avant-garde ballet “Passenger” under the authorship of director Maxim Didenko and choreographer Vladimir Varnava. The ballet based upon a novel by Amely Notomb ”Cosmetics of the enemy”.
On the April 2nd and 3rd a play “Theatrical story” staged on the same-named novel of Arthur Solomonov took place at Youth theatre. Director of the performance was Iscander Sakaev, who is familiar to Arkhangelsk audience by his works “A Clockwork Orange”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Wallpurgis Night”.
“Theatrical story” is a story about theatre life, people related to stage, art, religion and love. Bright and contradictory performance attracted a full house twice.
Passionate flamenco continued festival’s program. Theatre “Flamenco Vivo” already familiar to Arkhangelsk theatre-goers gave everyone a chance to find himself in hot and sunny Spain.
The official part of festival concluded by a recognized master of balalaika Alexey Arkhipovsky, who took part in “European Spring” for the second time.
The eleventh “European Spring” introduced Arkhangelsk audience to new artists and strengthened their love to the familiar theatre groups . It brought together hundreds of art-attracted people who became a new history of the festival.
