Igor Orlov held a meeting with the Indian diplomatic officials

The Arkhangelsk region has good, long-standing, extensive relationship with India

On September 14th the Acting Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov held a meeting with the Indian diplomatic officials.

Before the meeting with Igor Orlov the Consul General of India in St. Petersburg Mr Arun Kumar Sharma and Counsellor of the Embassy of lndia in Moscow Mr Biraja Prasad visited the Arkhangelsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where they discussed details of future economic cooperation.

In the beginning of the meeting the Acting Governor mentioned that the Arkhangelsk region has good, long-standing and extensive relationship with India. Should the opposite party be interested in developing the economic cooperation, the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region would welcome that. Igor Orlov has also invited the Indian delegation to the Margaritinskaya Fair that starts in Arkhangelsk on September 18th.

— I am pleased to invite you to the Fair. I am sure that it will assist development of our future interaction as well, – the Acting Governor said.

Mr Sharma congratulated Igor Orlov on the election win, and expressed his hopes that good relations between the Arkhangelsk region and India will develop. The Consul General suggested discussing the possibility to arrange cultural events in the Arkhangelsk region.

— It can be, for instance, an Indian Movies Festival, or guest performances of Indian artists, – Mr Sharma said. – Beside that we would also like to examine all aspects of our economic cooperation.

The Acting Governor supported the initiatives.

— I am sure that we will find new ways of cooperation both in culture and economy. The regional Government is prepared to provide any necessary support, – he concluded.
